About Our Project
The New Avenue: Digital Archives of African American & Chicano Heritage in Logan Heights is poised to illuminate local heroes and narratives through digital storytelling. Our community connection and departure from conventional approaches uniquely positioned us for the City of San Diego to award us Impact funding. Aligned with our mission centered on using art for change, the project intertwines cultural preservation, community storytelling, and healing, impacting the historically underserved African American and Chicano community. With Impact funding, we aim to make narratives accessible, creating a multidimensional online podcast and virtual reality experiences. Beyond storytelling, this initiative re-imagines and revitalizes corridors, encouraging residents to explore struggles collectively. The New Avenue aligns seamlessly with our mission, uniquely leveraging Impact funding fora lasting impact on Logan Heights' cultural, social, and historical fabric. Impact Logan Heights has been driven by the interests and involvement of our incredible and engaged community. We are a growing Arts Forum focused on improving our collection of content and enhancing online discussions. We are a great resource, offering opportunities for users to be active in a variety of topics and to engage with each other in an interesting and safe online environment.
